How to make the most of the new video tool on LinkedIn

Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram… You can’t really escape videos on social media! Up until now, LinkedIn was resisting the temptation, but not anymore. The professional network has also succumbed to the video’s charms!

So, what does the platform offer in terms of video creation and how can you integrate it into your social media strategy?

Some users can now access the in-app camera or upload videos natively onto the platform. Videos on LinkedIn can be shot in portrait or landscape and will autoplay in the feed.

Once you created a video, you’ll have access to the most common analytics: video views, likes, shares, comments, etc. But – and that’s when it gets really interesting – LinkedIn also offers metrics about specific viewers, such as information on where they work and their roles.

The bad news is, right now, only a bunch of users can upload videos natively on LinkedIn, but not for long, so watch out for a new icon appearing next to the camera in your mobile app. We expect the feature to roll out worldwide in the coming months. A little patience might be required. That’s good news, because now you know it’s coming, you can get your strategy ready for when it becomes available, which brings me to the second part of my question: how to integrate LinkedIn videos to your social media strategy?

Going bowling with your employees? The networking event that was so productive? Organising a conference, maybe? Showcasing the “behind the scenes” moments of your company would be a great start.

Rolling out a new service or a new product? They say an image is worth a thousand words! Now imagine what you could achieve with a video… if that’s not a match made in heaven, I don’t know what is.

Summarising what happened in your industry that week in a minute or so? It’s a great way of showing how you keep on top of everything and promoting your company all at the same time (We call it #60SecondSocial and if you haven’t watched it, maybe you should!)

I can also see short tutorials, explanation videos, CV videos… the possibilities are almost endless… Just find what suits your company.

One last thing, at the moment, LinkedIn is not offering videos on its ad platform, but we bet that will not last forever either!

Social is scary enough: October’s frights that unlock Q4 growth I was going to write a Halloween screamer. But honestly, social is terrifying on a normal week, even when you’re not under pressure for Q4 growth. Algorithms lurch like zombies. AI keeps creeping around in corners. So, before I ham…
