Choose your Colours Wisely

If you’re setting up a brand or company for the first time, it can be easy to want to get the small things out of the way as quickly as possible, but a very important consideration that you should spend a bit of time on is your choice of brand colours.

The colours you choose for you brand all have connotations in the mind of your audience. In choosing certain colours, you’re essentially linking your brand to those associations. This can strengthen your brand or damage it, depending on the situations, so it pays to get it right!

The good folks over at giraffe have made a handy infographic explaining some of the psychological connections we make with the colours of some of the biggest brands in the world. In their infographic they break down the emotions that each colour evokes in an audience member, and goes on to say how each colour is typically used in marketing.

They use the following brands as examples:

  • Coca Cola
  • Twitter
  • Ikea
  • Fanta
  • Lacoste
  • Cadbury
