YouTube tests QR codes

The video network is introducing QR codes for channels to enable quicker connections. It is also testing effects creation for Shorts and expanding access to its “Jump Ahead” feature for clips.

More from YouTube – the platform tests comment sorting for shorts clips

After testing automated comment topic sorting on regular videos, YouTube is now expanding its AI-generated comment summaries to Shorts, offering more ways to interact with content.

As per YouTube:

To help you understand and participate in conversations on YouTube, we’re testing a feature that uses A.I. to organize large comment sections on English-language Shorts into easily digestible themes. If you’re in the experiment group, you’ll see a new option to sort by ’Topics’ on some Shorts when reading comments on mobile.”

Instagram might soon allow cross-posting stories to WhatsApp

Instagram is considering enabling the sharing of Stories directly to WhatsApp. Users can already cross-post their Instagram Stories to Facebook, broadening the audience reach. With the addition of WhatsApp, presumably direct to WhatsApp Status (its Stories equivalent), you have even more ways to easily extend your content’s reach.

Threads is considering replacing the use of tags in favour of traditional hashtags

Threads appears to be testing new ways to enhance hashtag use. This includes reminders in the composer flow and the potential addition of the actual “#” marker before the tag.
