YouTube has announced a new milestone earlier this week of reaching 5 million subscribers in the past five years. YouTube TV originally launched back in 2017 in five US markets and is now available in ‘over 99.5% of households in the United States’, providing an alternative to traditional paid television viewing options. To celebrate this latest achievement, the platform has shared a few insights and fun facts here:

  1. When YouTube TV was launched five years ago, it was almost called “YouTube Air.”
  • As of today, YouTube TV is available nationwide with more than 100 channels with features such as unlimited cloud DVR space, Spanish-language content offerings, and a family plan.
  • YouTube TV provides a few of unique features that has improved the user’s experience:
  • No Spoiler Mode
  • Key Plays: Real-time team and player stats, key plays, and league scores while watching sports
  • Fantasy View: Users are given an option to link their fantasy football account to view their team performance in real-time
