What’s Trending in Design This Month? Fresh Styles to Watch

Blog banner with title "design trends: fresh, fun and worth knowing" on an orange and yellow gradient background. Blog discussing what's trending in design this month.

Design trends this month are all about balance. On one hand, we’re seeing a push towards cleaner, more stripped-back layouts. On the other hand, designers are leaning into texture, personality, and details that make things feel a bit more human.

One of the biggest shifts is the move away from overly polished, pixel-perfect visuals. Instead of everything looking perfectly neat, there’s a growing appreciation for hand-drawn elements, rough edges, visible grain, and layouts that feel a little less rigid. A very welcome change which makes designs feel warmer and more inviting.

At the same time, minimalism is still very much in the picture, but it’s becoming bolder. Fewer elements on the page, stronger typography, clearer hierarchy, and a more confident use of colour. It’s minimal, but not dull. Bold minimalism is a perfect exercise in restraint. How do you convey all your information without going design crazy?

Then there’s the opposite end of the spectrum: tactile maximalism. This is where things get richer and more layered, with textures, asymmetry, bold type, and motion all working together to create something more immersive. It’s a great approach if you want a design to feel lively and full of character.

AI is also shaping how designers work this month, but not in the way you might expect. It’s less about replacing creativity and more about speeding up the early stages. Things like brainstorming, exploring ideas, and getting to a starting point faster. The real skill still lies in editing and shaping those ideas into something that feels right for the brand. Always end with a human touch.

Motion is another big one. Small animations, hover effects, and subtle transitions are becoming part of the standard experience rather than a nice extra. Even the tiniest bit of movement can make a design feel more considered and engaging.

So, if there’s one takeaway this month, it’s this: design is becoming more expressive without losing clarity. The strongest work feels polished, but not overworked. Modern, but still human.
